Mumbai has its 9/11 – Burns, under Siege & Hostage Crisis

On November 26th the citizens of Mumbai got a rude awaking to the grim face of terrorism. Even though this city has had its share of terror attacks – Bomb Blasts – in the past but today it was in the heart of the most secure (VVIP area & the most Posh locality) location, the chief ministers official residence is 100 meters from the area in conflict, Shattering the myth that there are some areas in your neighborhoods that are completely safe & protected from terrorists.

Most Surprising is the live feed you hear of the conversation between the hostage takers & the news anchor crew. From the way the conversation goes you tend to get the idea that these terrorists have no idea what they hope to achieve by their actions.

Reporter “How many of you are there?’

Terrorist “There are seven of us”

Reporter “why r u doing this?”

Terrorist “it is for the cause of our oppressed brothers & sisters everywhere”

Reporter “what r you demands?”

Terrorist “Release all the Mujahideens (in Indian Jails), and Muslims living in India should not be troubled”

The point to note is that;

  1. They are not organized
  2. They do not know names of who all are jailed up for their cause
  3. They have demands that can not be fulfilled – not with surety
  4. They do not want safe passage.

The last point is the most crucial as they do not plan to escape or more drastically have no hope of it. A desperate person can resort to desperate measures.

I feel the situation is only going to get worse…..

God Bless us All….

Different Faces……… Different Places

‘When in Rome do exactly like Romans do’, have u noticed that v ourselves practice the same from time to time.

As an obedient child, an eager student, an interesting friend, a zealous worker, an avid lover, a faithful companion, a dependable father, a dutiful son & an affectionate grandparent. But what is more concerning to me is that sometimes u get so engrossed in who u r supposed to be, that u stop being u……

Like this Girl I know, her workplace persona is sooo rigid that people tend to be wary of her wrath. Her guard is up at all times, a no-nonsense person, which inevitable tends to having very selective friendships and even paltry relationships. Since I do not work with her so this opinion is solely based on feedback from her colleagues, even so she herself has admitted to striving to maintain this illusion as it works well for her.

The sad part is that is as I got to know her better I realized that this pretentiously monochromatic persona is not who she really is but a far more vibrant & carefree person who wants to live every moment & is quite refreshing.

You judge a person before knowing them & when u do get to know they surpass all your expectations & teach you to never to judge a book by its cover.

Has anyone surprised u this way?…… ask yourself

Absolute Bitching Brunch Baba!!!!

Another Fabulous Sunday brunch but this time with a Twist..... a queer twist….

On receiving the invitation for a Sunday brunch @ Frescos, I was hesitant at best…. It was graciously extended by one of my close female friends (on whose List of Best Friends I rank a close 15thJ), ironically she never made it to the brunch, blame it on a women’s (read: Beautiful women’s) prerogative to change her mind at the last possible second, reasoning discounted.

After much deliberation I decided on keeping the lunch(eon), in my favor was the unlimited Napa Chardonnay @ Rs. 225, which was simply too good an opportunity to pass up coupled with a scrumptious spread of Pastas, Spaghetti & heaps of Pizzas.

On reaching there I was greeted by my friends, who by virtue of their lifestyle were dressed immaculately and looked like the beautiful restaurant settings were designed around them to compliment them.

It was a gamble that paid off well as we spent a lovely 4 hours chatting, gossiping, bitching, reflecting, drinking & feasting, checking out all the Gucci Bags, Jimmy Choo pumps & Diva Jeans. We were so in character that I feel there should have been a separate section for us (people with a sunny disposition).

Anyways all I can say is that it’s a blast to skip over to the other side from time to time (or at least ponder over the possibility of what can be)…. Get my drift?...... HA Ha ha
